Congregate Meals

Lunch is served at the Senior Center on Monday through Friday from 11:30am to 12:30pm. The Suggested Donation for a meal is $4.00 for Registered Seniors age 60+. Registration must be renewed each year by filling out the first two pages of the AGNES Registration Form. All ages are welcome to join us for lunch, but if you are not a registered senior, you need to purchase a Guest Meal for $8.00.

For your convenience, Meal Tickets are available to purchase in packs of five for $20.00. We can accept payments by cash, check, or card. No reservations are required. Our daily meal count can vary widely though, so it does help us to have enough food prepared if you let us know in advance if you are coming with a group. Seniors age 60+ have priority for available meals over guests and staff.

Once registered, you will receive a MySeniorCenter keycard to sign in at the front counter for meals and everything else you do at the Senior Center. This is important for our funding and is easy to do. We are happy to show you how to do it as many times as needed. There is a tall gray box on the front counter for meal donations. Office staff or a volunteer are available if you need change, need help signing in, or would like to purchase a guest meal, meal tickets, frozen meals, etc. If you have a MySeniorCenter keycard from another senior center, you can use it at Shoshoni too (after we connect it to our database).

Takeout Meals

Takeout Meals for registered seniors are in to-go packaging for pickup at the Senior Center, by the registered senior recipient of the meal. Youmust call to request a Takeout Meal by 9:00 AM. These meals are put together before serving time only.

Home Delivered Meals

Home Delivered Meals are available for Shoshoni seniors who qualify. If possible, we recommend that you come to the Senior Center to eat. Getting out and participating in person is an important part of staying active and engaged as you age. Socialization makes a big difference, and that is what the Senior Center is here to provide.
You must fill out the first THREE pages of the AGNES Registration Form each year to evaluate need and qualify for the Home Delivered Meals program. Generally, this is someone who has difficulty preparing food for themselves or coming to the Senior Center for a meal. These meals are usually delivered around 11am by volunteers.
We also provide home delivered meals through the Wyoming Medicaid Community Choices Waiver program. We receive these Service Requests through your Medicaid Case Manager.

Frozen Meals

Frozen Meals are available to purchase for $2 each or three for $5. They are available on a first-come basis as they are placed in the freezer in the dining room. There is a weekly limit on frozen meals, depending on the current supply.

Leftovers

You may take home your own uneaten food from the Senior Center at your own risk. Please consume within two hours, or refrigerate immediately and consume within three days from the day the meal was served. You are encouraged to bring your own containers, but small boxes or baggies are sometimes available at the Senior Center. The grants for this program do not cover this expense, so we usually rely on donated items for this purpose. Our to-go packaging cannot be used for taking home leftovers.

More Information about Menu and Nutrition Programs

A registered dietician approves our monthly menu. She also provides quarterly Nutrition Education handouts. Referral for remote Nutrition Counseling is available upon request and is encouraged if your nutritional risk score on the AGNES Registration Form is high.

Visit the Wyoming Department of Health’s website for more information about Title III-C1 and C2 Nutrition Programs. We apply for federal and state funding (with a required percentage of “local match” funding) for these programs. We are awarded up to a certain amount, based on the number of services we report providing in previous years, to be reimbursed for program expenses each fiscal year. We can only utilize the federal and state funds after the Program Income is spent first, which is the the voluntary contributions or “suggested donation” from program recipients.
